A New Journey

by Fleurzty on November 1, 2009

If you are wondering what has caused the reduction of product reviews on Texture Playground, it is simply a change in my buying habits and my dedication to get my products out to the public. It has been a transition process, much like transitioning from a relaxer for me. There have been many changes that I had to make, and so much that I needed to learn about investments, financial wellness for a small business, starting up without draining my family’s finances, etc. This journey is very new, at least compared to my hair journey and it has its set of fears and adaptation that it requires.

The road to entrepreneurship is loaded with decisions and questions. I have had to ask myself just how serious am I. I also had to figure out what I was willing to sacrifice to make this commitment. I don’t know about you, but these have been very hard questions for me to answer. I have also had to face the possibility of failure and study the steps of entrepreneurs that I admire in the hair industry and others, and figure out what they have in common. One of the hardest decisions I have had to make was slow down on how many products I buy, which translated into how much I write. Blogging has become a way for me to relate to many of you and share a little bit of myself with other natural hair enthusiasts. Do not mistake this as my farewell to blogging; for I am always searching for content and constantly look for little bit of information or tip that I know that I or twenty other bloggers have not passed on yet to the readers :) I’ve been meaning to write every day this past month, but it has not happened, so I will make this my official blogger vacation. I will be gone until Monday, November 9. Trust, I’ll be back in time to celebrate my 1-year anniversary since starting this blog.

This post is about determination and self-discipline more than anything else. If you have a goal, please see that you focus your efforts and energy on reaching it. I have once heard someone say that success only precedes work in the dictionary. The truth is that the work you do, how you invest your time and energy, as well as your thought process will have everything to do with your results.

Have a good week ladies!

P.S. I forgot to report that the curls are back and absolutely NO damage. I wore a wash-n-go today, and here are the pictures.

Hi Flerzty! I applaud you for taking out the time to consider the effect a small business may potentially have on your family and current living situation. I think it’s very intelligent of you to “look before you leap!” Especially in this economy! Anyhow, good luck with the implementation of your products and business. Your wash and go looks fabulous! Take care!

I wish you the best in your endeavors! I am glad that this blog was what you needed to see your talent. I can’t wait to see the yummy butters you have available for purchase. You are still an inspiration. Even if you are not looking for product reviews – I love to see your hair’s progress it still is growing like crazy. Take care!

Happy 1 year anniversary of your blog!!
This part really hit home “The truth is that the work you do, how you invest your time and energy, as well as your thought process will have everything to do with your results.” Because I read it as I was lallygagging LOL and trying to do everything except study for my exam next week (I’m back in college working on my MBA) and I shut off the computer, started to read my book instead. Don’t worry about updating every day. Concentrate on your business and family. We will be here with our credit cards ready! LOL Good luck on your business. May God bless it and multiply it.
