This site is great! I was on the Newly Natural Blog and discovered your site through that one. I am transitioning right now (5 months in) and I have been in awe of the amount of info that is out there. I will definitely be subscribing to Texture Playground.
Hey Fleurtzy! I lurve your blog and look forward to seeing your new posts in my inbox
Anyway, I see you like the Indian powders and Butters etc and I just did a Henna/Indigo Gloss Melt today and would like to share the recipe. Its based on a Lush Solid Henna Recipe but tweaked slightly
25g Henna 25g Indigo 2 tbs of lemon juice, mix well
then melt 60g Cocoa Butter and 10g Macadmaia Nut Oil on a bain marie/double boiler
add to the Henna and Indigo, mix really well and then spoon into a bun mould (y’know the ones that are silicone for making buns) and let it set and it will set solid due to the cocoa butter.
You could do all henna if you wanted or henna/cassia or add a little amla in there or whatever you fancy…the cocoa butter/oil just helps to counteract the drying effect and the solid form looks kinda cute and a bit artsy!
I wasn’t sure whether the Indigo would hold with it being a powder that deteriorates rapidly so I used the melt within 2 days. Basically pre poo’d with oil overnight, washed my hair, allowed to air dry a little, then reheated the Henna/Indigo Gloss Melt and applied it to my hair and then slapped deep condish over tht top (I didn’t have time to do this afterwards but you could do)…well the mix felt so smooth to apply due to the cocoa butter and oil…it all washed out well with a little cheap conditioner….love it! this is how I intend to do my Henna/Indigo Glosses from now on.
